Fishing at Matagamon Guide Service
Located on the East Branch of the Penobscot River and Grand Lake Matagamon, we offer fishing for native Brook Trout, Landlocked Salmon, and Lake Trout. We fish the above waters plus many other local ponds and lakes. We also offer boat tours of Matagamon Lake, looking for Bald Eagles, Ospreys, Loons and great views of mountain ranges from First and Second Lake. All of Second Lake is within Baxter State Park.
We have an 18' Lund boat with sonar, downriggers, and planer boards, all tackle and equipment is provided for lake fishing, all you need is a lunch and proper clothing. In the spring, we flat line with planer boards, summer we fish deeper with lead line and or downriggers. Fall brings us back to the surface, usually to flat line again. Spring and Fall offer the best fishing as a rule. We keep the boat docked at Matagamon Lake but can trailer to other lakes near if you prefer.
If pond fishing for Native Brookies is your choice, we have a number of walk-in ponds, some fly-fishing only, some general law. Most fishermen supply their own gear for these trips. Also Brook Trout and Salmon are in the East Branch of the Penobscot River, depending on time of year, as to flies or lures.
